The Season 13 finale of Chicago P.D. focused on Eva Imani’s emotional search for her younger sister, Shari, who was kidnapped when she was only six years old. But while the sisters were finally reunited, the ending was far from happy.

After years apart, Shari had become a completely different person. She was now living with Kirby — the man who kidnapped her and later became her husband. The situation turned even darker when Shari admitted to murdering her friend and ultimately turned against Imani during the finale’s intense confrontation.

As things spiraled out of control, the Intelligence Unit arrived just in time to save Imani, while Voight hunted down Kirby himself and made sure he could never hurt anyone again.

In the final moments of the episode, Shari slit her wrists but survived, leaving her future uncertain. The finale also raised a major question for next season: will Shari face trial and prison for her crimes?

Showrunner Gwen Sigan explained that the writers always wanted the story to end in a “bittersweet” way. According to her, Imani finally got what she had been searching for her entire life, but the reality of finding her sister was far more painful and complicated than she ever imagined.

Meanwhile, Arienne Mandi revealed that the bond between Imani and Voight becomes even stronger after everything they went through together. However, the biggest mystery moving forward is whether Voight will expose Shari’s crimes or protect Imani by keeping the truth hidden.

Sigan also confirmed that all possibilities are currently being discussed for Season 14, including Shari’s legal future, her potential rehabilitation, and how the events of the finale will continue to affect both Imani and Voight.
