Virgin River Fans Reflect on Iconic Moments After Actor’s Death

Virgin River may be famous for its forests and cozy cabins, but Season 7’s Mexico storyline offered the cast and crew an entirely new experience.
After wrapping production in Vancouver, a smaller team traveled to Tulum to film Mel and Jack’s honeymoon episode. For Alexandra Breckenridge, the biggest appeal was finally seeing the couple escape the endless cycle of stress and emotional crises that define their everyday lives.
The actor humorously pointed out that despite Virgin River’s comforting reputation, the characters are constantly dealing with major problems.
Even during the honeymoon storyline, Mel and Jack are still balancing enormous responsibilities back home, including managing businesses, preparing a farm, building a house, and considering adoption.
According to showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, filming in Mexico presented several logistical challenges for the production team. However, those difficulties also created a stronger sense of unity among everyone involved.
Smith described the Virgin River cast and crew as a family, explaining that the trip allowed longtime collaborators to connect in a completely different environment.
The Mexico storyline promises not only beautiful visuals, but also a rare emotional pause for two of the show’s most beloved characters.
